SafeWork NSW are preparing a new Approved Code of Practice to cover health and safety risks associated with ‘Moving Plant’ (i.e. mobile plant) on construction sites in New South Wales.
The intent is to provide additional guidance to construction industry stakeholders to support safe equipment, systems and places of work. As part of industry engagement during the early draft development stage, SafeWork NSW has invited CMEIG to participate.
CMEIG Working Group members have provided a number of comments to support development of the draft document. This feedback has focused on:
- Harmonisation with Australian and International Standards activities, and prior industry work on topics such as lifting with excavators, quick couplers, operator protective structures etc.
- Feedback regarding reasonable and practical requirements and recommendations.
It is CMEIG’s understanding of SafeWork NSW process that a finalised draft will be shared publicly for consultation and further industry engagement later this year.
