Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) working group update – winter 2026
The CMEIG HSE Working Group continues to gain momentum, with the third meeting scheduled for late August 2026 and participation growing to over 10 members. In the last meeting members shared recent safety incidents and lessons learned, creating valuable opportunities to exchange best practices across the industry.
The group also discussed the potential development of a CMEIG Safety Awards program to recognise outstanding safety performance amongst members. A key focus was the review of upcoming Safe Work Australia regulations covering airborne contaminants, hazardous chemicals, workplace noise, heat and thermal stress. Members agreed on the importance of engaging proactively with regulators to help shape practical outcomes for our industry and ensure businesses are prepared for future compliance requirements.
