Welcome to the spring issue of the CMEIG Newsletter.

This edition includes an important survey from AUSMASA, the Government’s Jobs and Skills Council on industry’s requirements for Battery Electric Vehicle and Hybrid Electric Vehicle training. As we transition to a zero-carbon future, earthmoving OEM’s are pivoting quickly towards new electric technology with products starting to be released, and more to come in the next few years. CMEIG have been in regular consultation with AUSMASA on this important area of training for our industry. It is imperative we provide input to the required qualifications of our technicians, so please take the time to complete this survey. This is a requirement to fast-track acknowledgement of Mobile Plant Technician qualifications as a pre-requisite for these critical courses that will be integral to servicing our mobile plant of the future.

Also in this issue, the Engineering Working Group have released an important paper on Operator Protective Structures on Large Dozers, we look at the Minerals Council’s latest update on the reduction of emissions in mines and share Safe Work Australia’s latest new checklist aimed to assist businesses to easily develop comprehensive safety strategies.

We would also like to welcome Allclass as our newest CMEIG member.

I trust you will enjoy the Newsletter and as always, welcome any feedback.

Best Regards
